SURVEYS AND RESEARCH CONDUCTED:
UNICEF, Education program third party monitoring project: This Project was funded by UNICEF and MMRC-A has monitored all community based, cost effective, formal schools and women’s literacy programs in Paktia, Paktika and Khost Provinces. Moreover MMRCA had provided to UNICEF information about all school health initiatives, incidents happened and impacted the education program, trainings conducted and the national days celebrated. The project was implemented from Dec-2008 till Jan 2010.
HIV Surveillance Project: MMRC-A is an implementing partner of the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) had conducted the first round of HIV surveillance through integrated biological and behavioral surveillance among Injection drug users and female sex workers in Kabul, Mazar and Herat in 2008-2009, under the same contract with amendment the study is expanded to other cities and was conducted among IDUs in Kabul, Herat, Mazar, Jalalabad and Charikar and among FSWs in Kabul, Herat and Mazar cities from March-September 2012.The surveillance has been conducting through an innovative approach called Respondent Driven Sampling (RDS) methodology. The project had two interrelated components, the integrated behavioral data collection and biological testing of the hidden and high risk population (IDUs and FSWs).
Baseline Household Survey in Badghis, Daykundi, Nimroz and Nuristan Provinces: The project was funded by UNICEF and MMRCA has conducted a baseline household survey on MNCH, Nutrition, education, child protection and Wash Indicators, mapping of health, nutrition and Wash services, mapping of schools and literacy services, social mapping and qualitative study of traditional practices in the above four provinces. The project was started in Dec 2010 and ended in December 2011.
KAP Survey of the Micronutrient Initiative: This survey project was granted by MI to identify barriers and constraints to the ORS, Zinc and other potential micronutrients. The survey was conducted through in-depth interviews and establishment of focus groups in Nangarhar, Baghlan and Balkh provinces.
End of Project KAP Survey Afghanistan Water Sanitation and Supply Project supported by IRD/MSH: The survey was conducted among 600 mothers of 36 supervisory areas in Badakhshan, Takhar, Baghlan, Logar, Nangarhar and Laghman Provinces. The study was conducted from July-September 2012. Core indicators were based on health hygiene promotion and availability of sustainable water schemes at respected communities. The survey was conducted through multi-stage clustered randomized household methodology.
SQUEAC Survey: SQUEAC (semi Quantitative evaluation of Access and coverage) assessment conducted by MMRC-A. This assessment has been conducted in Qarabagh, Zankahan and Dehyak districts. The objectives of the survey was,
- To determine program coverage for SAM program in the entire province
- To determine boosters and barriers of significance to program coverage in the SAM program
- To build the capacity of the survey staff and program staff on SQUEAC methodology
SMART Survey: MMRCA with close coordination of ACF and PNO has implemented the SMART (Standardized monitoring and assessment of Relief and transition) survey in six districts (Qarabagh, Zankahan , Dehyak, Maquer, Gillan and Ander) of Ghazni province.
